HOT SEAT VR | 2024

2024 Global Game Jam submission by a team of NUA Masters students and I. The jam lasted for 48 hours. After our brainstorming process, I took on the role of 2D concept artist for the first day - designing the room and props the player would interact with. We decided to create an immersive VR experience in which the player takes the role of a security officer for a technologically out-of-date science facility. The facility houses a dangerous, monsterous, secret subject and, of course, everything goes wrong. The player has to write sticky notes and label the seemingly random assortment of buttons and puzzles, while following floppy disc training manuals, in order to survive the night. After the first day of concepting, my role had to adapt since the developers and 3D artists already had the information they needed designed. I began creating the minimal UI for the game which was displayed on the desktop monitors rather than overlaid on the game to allow for the most immersion. I also developed new skills like tutorial writing and voice acting in the university's recording studio for the final stint of the project.
